FAQ

How do I know if I need therapy?

Clients enter counselling for a variety of reasons. This can be preventative in nature, for example if a client wishes to address potential concerns before they arise. I often see clients when they encounter difficult transitions in their lives and want assistance as they navigate major life changes. I also see clients when they are looking for restorative work that aims to recapture a state of wellness that may have been lost or compromised as a result of various stressors. Sometimes we are able to overcome the difficulties in our lives on our own and at other times, we recognize that other kinds of support are needed. Entering therapy is indicative of a willingness to take responsibility, to evolve and grow as a person. It is therefore, an admirable choice.

How many sessions will I need?

Every client enters counselling with different goals and a unique personal history. Some clients achieve their goals within 2-3 sessions, while others are invested in addressing issues that benefit from more long term support. The length of counselling has much to do with the nature of the issue and your commitment to the growth process. There are no magical cures - your healing journey requires your care and attention.

Is counselling covered by insurance?

Some health insurance plans and/or employee assistance programs cover counselling fees. Check your program and discuss this with your counsellor.
